MDC releases preliminary deer hunting numbers


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that 15,425 antlerless deer were collected during their portion of deer season, December 4, 5 and 6.

Last year's total was 10, 597. The MDC credits good hunting conditions for the nearly 50% increase.

The MDC adds that archery deer season runs until January 15, with the alternative methods portion running from December 26 through January 5.
